George Brown built his estate and named it Coindre Hall in 1910. After coming very close to demolition, this mansion, alongside Huntington Harbor's “Puppy Cove” extension, was saved. Marked by two towers on the front facade, this mansion is based on a French chateau design. The estate also contains a boat house of similar design. After the 1929 stock crash, Brown lost the estate. Coindre Hall now houses the Museum of Long Island's Gold Coast, which features exhibits and other artifacts from this unique era. The grass field and trails on the north side of the mansion go down to the boathouse which is now a popular dog run.
Directions to the cache from Huntington Village: Take Wall Street north which changes to West Shore Rd. After passing Gold Star beach, the road again changes to Browns Rd.
