There are a number of caches now in Porirua Scenic Reserve, many more than when I placed the first one there several years ago. This cache is designed to help spur interest in exploring this wonderful little area, and alternative ways up Colonial Knob.
Porirua Scenic Reserve encompasses most of the northeastern slope of Colonial Knob, a strategic high point that serves for both communications and general sight seeing. The main ways up are through a series of tracks, most commonly starting in Spicer Forest. To access this cache it is recommended that you either start from the Elsdon Camp entrance or else the Rangituhi entrance, but you can get there from other entrances as well.
You are looking for a small camoflauged medicine container. Bring a tool to extract the log from the container, and a writing instrument to sign it. Please make sure the cache is rehidden and secure so that neither weather nor possum hunters will remove it.
