Molto semplice e facile da raggiungere, ma bellissimo per i monumenti da visitare. QUESTA CACHE FA PARTE DI UN GIRO COMPOSTO DA VARIE CACHE DENOMINATO "GIRO DELLE PORTE" E ANCHE DEL GIRO "TOLENTINO CONTEMPORANEA"
TORRIONE – PONTE SAN CATERVO - VILLA GABRIELLI –
POLITEAMA
Cilindrico e merlato e con cordone di pietra arenaria e basamento a scarpa, il torrione di San Catervo era
un’opera di fortificazione della mura civiche, posizionato in una delle posizioni naturali di difesa, sul lato più
meridionale della cinta muraria. L’imponente manufatto venne ricostruito dopo i bombardamenti della seconda
guerra mondiale, nel 1944. Il torrione fu anche la sede del quartier generale degli austriaci il primo giorno della
battaglia di Tolentino, combattuta il 2 e 3 maggio del 1815 tra l’esercito di Gioacchino Murat, Re di Napoli e
quello austriaco del Barone Federico Bianchi. La battaglia è considerata dagli storici come la Prima Battaglia per
l’Indipendenza Italiana.
Adiacente al torrione è situato il ponte di San Catervo, costruito alla fine dell’ottocento per facilitare l’accesso al
centro storico da Macerata. Il ponte fu bombardato dalle truppe tedesche in fuga alla fine sella seconda guerra
mondiale e fu poi ricostruito.
Questa zona del centro città è stata interessata da recenti lavori di recupero di edifici storici di pregio, quali il
Politeama all’inizio di corso Garibaldi e Villa Gabrielli in viale Cesare Battisti.
Nato come cineteatro nel 1926 per volere di un gruppo di cittadini tolentinati presieduti dal Cav. Nazareno
Gabrielli, imprenditore pellettiere, il Politeama, che in origine si chiamava Politeama Piceno, è oggi un elegante
centro polifunzionale che ospita eventi artistici e culturali.
Il Cav. Franco Moschini, mecenate, imprenditore e fondatore di Poltrona Frau, ha rifunzionalizzato l’edificio con
un importante investimento, avvalendosi dell’architetto Michele De Lucchi, riuscendo a conservare i tratti salienti
dell’edificio, e al tempo stesso trasformando lo storico edificio in un moderno centro per le arti e la cultura.
Villa Gabrielli, costruita in stile liberty negli anni venti lungo l’elegante viale Cesare Battisti, è stata sede della
storica pelletteria tolentinate Nazareno Gabrielli e anche la residenza della famiglia Gabrielli per poi ospitare la
rinata “Poltrona Frau”, nel 1963. La villa è stata recentemente ristrutturata e trasformata in“Interno Marche”un
design-hotel che si compone di trenta stanze tutte diverse, dal design unico, caratterizzate dalle opere di
affermati architetti e designer come Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Giò Ponti , Achille Castiglioni e tanti altri, che
hanno collaborato con le aziende guidate da Franco Moschini, ovvero Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, Gebrüder
Thonet.
Al suo interno sono stati ricavati anche un bistrot, un lounge-bar, una spa, spazi per meeting ed esposizioni.
TOWER – SAN CATERVO BRIDGE - VILLA GABRIELLI –
POLITEAMA
Cylindrical and crenellated and with sandstone cordon and scarp base, the tower of San Catervo was
a fortification work of the civic walls, positioned in one of the natural defense positions, on the longer side
southern part of the city walls. The imposing building was rebuilt after the bombings of the Second World War
world war, in 1944. The tower was also the seat of the Austrian headquarters on the first day of
battle of Tolentino, fought on 2 and 3 May 1815 between the army of Gioacchino Murat, King of Naples and
the Austrian one of Baron Federico Bianchi. The battle is considered by historians to be the First Battle for
Italian Independence.
Adjacent to the tower is the San Catervo bridge, built at the end of the nineteenth century to facilitate access to the
historic center from Macerata. The bridge was bombed by fleeing German troops at the end of the Second World War
world championship and was then rebuilt.
This area of the city center has been affected by recent restoration works on valuable historic buildings, such as the
Politeama at the beginning of Corso Garibaldi and Villa Gabrielli in Viale Cesare Battisti.
Born as a cinema theater in 1926 at the behest of a group of citizens from Tolentino chaired by Cav. Nazarene
Gabrielli, leather goods entrepreneur, the Politeama, which was originally called Politeama Piceno, is today an elegant
multifunctional center that hosts artistic and cultural events.
The Cav. Franco Moschini, patron, entrepreneur and founder of Poltrona Frau, has repurposed the building with
an important investment, making use of the architect Michele De Lucchi, managing to preserve the salient features
of the building, and at the same time transforming the historic building into a modern center for arts and culture.
Villa Gabrielli, built in Art Nouveau style in the 1920s along the elegant Viale Cesare Battisti, was the headquarters of the
historic Tolentino leather goods Nazareno Gabrielli and also the residence of the Gabrielli family and then hosting the
“Poltrona Frau” was reborn in 1963. The villa was recently renovated and transformed into “Interno Marche” a
design-hotel which is made up of thirty different rooms, with a unique design, characterized by the works of
established architects and designers such as Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Giò Ponti, Achille Castiglioni and many others, who
they collaborated with the companies led by Franco Moschini, namely Cassina, Cappellini, Zanotta, Gebrüder
Thonet.
Inside, a bistro, a lounge bar, a spa, spaces for meetings and exhibitions have also been created.
