Un tesoro en el cerro de Totoralillo, cerca de flores de Añañuca.
La Añañuca no solo es una flor endémica de Chile. También era una linda joven que vivió en el Monte Rey, en la región de Coquimbo. Un día, un chico minero apareció en la búsqueda de un tesoro. El conquistó el corazón de la Añañuca y vivieron juntos y muy felices. Hasta que un día el minero soñó de nuevo con su tesoro y desapareció buscándolo. Después de meses de espera, la Añañuca finalmente murió por amor a su querido amante. En un día gris con lluvia los pobladores la enterraron. Al día siguiente les esperaba una sorpresa: todo el infértil suelo del desierto se había convertido en un mar de flores rojas, que consiguientemente llamaron Añañuca.

Añañuca is not just a flower endemic to Chile but was also the name of a beautiful girl that lived in Monte Rey in the region of Coquimbo. One day a miner's boy game on the hunt for a treasure he had heard about. Seeing Añañuca, he immediately fell for her and forgot about his business and they lived happily together for a while. Until, one night, in a dream, the treasure was haunting him again. So he set out to find it once again. After waiting for month for he beloved one to return, Añañuca finally died of sorrow and loneliness. The villagers buried her on a grey and rainy day. The next morning they were met with a sudden surprise: all over the infertile desert red flowers were growing which were subsequently named Añañuca.
