The Lavender Federation Trail (LFT) is named in honour of the late Terry Lavender OAM, the mastermind behind the famous South Australian Heysen Trail. It commences in Murray Bridge, and the final destination is Clare. This cache is placed on part of the Truro-Eudunda section which was officially opened on the 28th September 2014.
PLEASE PARK ONLY AT THE GIVEN PARKING CO-ORDINATES - DO NOT ACCESS THIS CACHE ANY OTHER WAY. Some of this section of the LFT passes through private property, so please respect the landowners and appreciate their generosity in allowing all to enjoy the scenery they have on their land. Follow the trail markers at all times.
This structure was once a weir which collected water and diverted it along the man made channel you have just walked along to a railway dam on the edge of town. This stored water was then pumped up to the overhead tank near the Railway Station and used for the steam trains which used to pass through Eudunda. If only they still did................
The trail is suitable for walking between March and November, and is closed on days of boadcast fire ban. Contact the Fire Ban Hotline on 1300 362 361 if you are unsure.
Cache is a 1 litre sized Sistema suitable for smallish swaps.
