Glendale is one of Akron’s oldest and most beautiful cemeteries. In the middle of the City and such a peaceful setting. It is nice to come and just ponder life (and death).
Some of the trees in this area have grown right into the perimeter fence and made the fence a part of them. Pretty amazing how fast some of these trees can grow and accomplish this. Glendale is said to be the oldest cemetery in Akron but, the Bettes Cemetery – 815 Tallmadge Ave. (North side of Tallmadge Ave.) predates Glendale. If you haven’t been to this cemetery – it has a Revolutionary War grave - And a geocache – The Minuteman’s Grave.
