Imagine you are living thousands of years ago and you are looking out to sea from a beautiful beach. In the far distance, on a clear day, you can see a mountain. A mountain with white snow on its peaks. A mountain where you had been told the Greek Gods live.
When you find this cache you will be looking at the same view that has remained unchanged for thousands of years. You are looking at Mount Olympus which is about 50 miles away, it is amazing to think that this view has remained the same for all those years.
Mount Olympus is located about 80 km (50 mi) southwest from Thessaloniki and has 52 peaks. The highest peak Mytikas, meaning "nose", rises to 2,919 metres (9,570 ft).[3] It is one of the highest peaks in Europe.
Olympus was notable in Greek Mythology as the home of the Twelve Olympians, on the Mytikas peak. Mount Olympus is also noted for its very rich flora with several special species. It has been the first National Park of Greece, since 1938, and a World's Biosphere Reserve.
