Geocache Description:

Achanarras quarry is owned by Scottish Natural Heritage. This cache is straight forward, with the aid of the info board at the carpark close to the cache. (Marked as a waypoint.)

To open the cache you need the following information: Triassic period 2nd number, 2nd digit, Devonian period 1st number 3rd digit, Neogene 2nd number 2nd digit, Permian 1st number 3rd digit.

 


Achanarras quarry is now disused, but once yielded complete fish and fragments in fossils. Permission to enter the actual quarry is required. However From the car park you may walk about a mile up a farm track to arrive at the quarry entrance. Along the route you will follow a timeline- every 3 metres being equivalent to 1,000,000 years!
