Join us at Stolley Park at noon on July, 25, 2015.

1) Bake your favorite Christmas goodies to share with your fellow cachers! There will be soda and water.

2) Don't forget your Santa hat, Elf ears, Reindeer antlers, or Ugly Christmas sweater/T-shirt for the group photo.

3) You do not have to participate in the Secret Christmas Cache Exchange or purchase anything at the location to log the event as a find; but if you do wish to participate in the Secret Christmas Cache Exchange, you must follow these rules. Please read the following instructions carefully so that no one is disappointed...

Secret Christmas Cache Exchange rules:

1. Prior to coming to the event, you must hide a gift (Christmas Cache) to be exchanged with another geocacher somewhere within 10 miles of the event location. The gift can be whatever you like... gift card, unactivated geocoins, TB dog tags, swag items, cache containers or even non-caching related items like cookies or candy. Please use your own judgment in selecting your gift items and make sure that they are under 20 dollars in value. You may place your gift items in an inexpensive cache container (i.e. plastic ware, Christmas tin, etc.) and hide it to be found later that day. Make sure the container is weather resistant and critter-proof. Don't forget to mark a waypoint for your hidden gift for Step 2.

2. You must bring a Micro Container to the event. Inside the Micro Container will be a slip of paper with the coordinates of the Christmas Cache you hid for another cacher to find. In addition, write your geocaching name and cell phone number on the paper just in case the seeker needs a phone-a-friend to find their Christmas Cache.

3. At the event, the Micro Container will be placed in a stocking and mixed up. Everyone who places a Micro container in the stocking will then be able to randomly choose another Micro Container from the stocking. For those families with multiple cachers, you may bring more than one Micro Container but there must be one Christmas Cache hidden for each Micro Container placed in the stocking so everyone gets a cache.

4. After the Micro Container Exchange, we will take a group photo so make sure you wear your favorite holiday gear. Santa hats, Ugly holiday sweaters/T-shirts, Elf ears, and Reindeer antlers are always welcome.

5. After the group photo, the event will be over and you may disperse to go find your Christmas Cache or hang out to enjoy the Christmas Potluck. Remember... the entire cache is yours to keep including the container so make sure you take everything with you after the hunt. These containers are not to be left behind or published as a regular cache.

6) When you log the event as attended, please thank the cacher who hid your Christmas Cache for the gift and post pictures of the cache contents.

Additional Thoughts...

Because these will not be permanent caches, you do not have to follow the normal rules for placement distance from an existing cache. You can be as creative as you want in hiding your Christmas Cache. You can make it a traditional type cache, or you can make it a puzzle-cache or multi-cache to make the hunt more fun. Just remember the recipient may not be an experienced cacher. Use your imagination! Please identify any unique attributes your cache requires special tools or is not wheel-chair accessible. That way if someone is not comfortable with this location, they can exchange for a different cache.

Please email me if you have any questions concerning the rules.
