The Route:
There is a well trodden trail for most of the way up, starting at the entrance to the Greyton Nature Reserve. Park in Park Street and enter through the gate (entrance is free). Take the first right after crossing the bridge and then the next left at the trail signs. Head straight up passing the bench towards the start of the Uitkykkop Trail.
The trail eventually peters out after a stream on the plateau. From here on you're free to wander your own path up the dizzyingly steep slopes of Uitkykkop. Near the top the steep slope turns into cliffs and here you will have to perform a scramble or two with cairns placed at strategic places to help you in tricky spots.
Total trip distance is about 12km and should take around 7-9 hours to complete. Please come well prepared with refreshments including enough water to last the whole trip. Remember to take lots of photos and enjoy the hike!
