Geocache Description:

Cache is not at posted coordinates!

One of my favorite geocaching adventures is to complete geo-art patterns as I typically learn some new information about a certain topic and get to grab a bunch of caches. As there are no geo-art series in the Huntsville area, I decided to create one for your enjoyment.

This Fleur-de-lis shaped geo-art series consists of 42 caches and is dedicated to the great city of New Orleans, which also happens to be my hometown.  The fleur-de-lis has long been the symbol that represents the city of New Orleans and you will find it everywhere you go in the region! New Orleans, or NOLA, has a rich history and is a great place to visit.  I hope this series will give you a better appreciation for NOLA and all the great offerings available in the city (Google and Wikipedia are your friends).

To retrieve the finals, you will not be able to access the vast majority by car as they are placed along the Eastern Bypass pedestrian/bike path.  REPEAT – it is too dangerous to attempt to retrieve the majority of these caches via a car as the bypass is a busy thoroughfare.  I highly recommend to seek the caches by bicycle as it is approximately a 9 mile round trip.

Each cache is unique.  Many are similar.  A few are devious.  D/T rating will reflect those that are more difficult.

**IMPORTANT** please note the exact placement of the container and replace as you found it.  It is important to keep out of sight of the constant stream of muggles who use this path daily.

There are 2 possible places to park.  My personal recommendation is to park at the greenway entrance parking area, which is south of the schools (see waypoint titled ‘Best Parking’). The other potential parking area can be very crowded on summer weekends as it is a popular destination for canoes and kayaks.

The City of New Orleans

Situated on a bend of the Mississippi River 100 miles from its mouth, New Orleans has been the chief city of Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico’s busiest northern port since the early 1700s. Founded by the French, ruled for 40 years by the Spanish and bought by the United States in the 1803 Louisiana Purchase, New Orleans is known for its distinct Creole culture and vibrant history. Significant battles of the War of 1812 and the Civil War were fought over the city.

From the earliest Native American tribes, to the intrepid French settlers, to the Spanish adventurers, to the coming of the Americans, New Orleans is a city steeped in history, much of which is still visible in its old landmarks. The Cabildo, on Jackson Square; the Pontalba buildings, the oldest apartment houses in the U.S.; Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop, where the notorious 19th century buccaneer, Jean Lafitte, hung out and carried on his illicit (and illegal) activities; and many more historic sites. They’re all part of the heritage that makes New Orleans unique among American cities.

To find the final coordinates for this cache, you must correctly answer the following question:
