Geocache Description:

There is a gravel track to reach the location of the cache, but be careful not to slip when retrieving it. There are often cattle in the area so please keep your dog on a lead..

Generic Series Information:

The ThickRidge Eight series of caches takes the cacher in a figure-of-eight route from the hamlet of Thickwood to Euridge and Colerne Down, returning to Thickwood. The total distance is just short of four miles. The main feature of this route is the outstanding countryside and views across the rolling hills and valleys. The terrain is very mixed, and varies from the lanes, where there is easy access for wheelchairs and buggies, to steep hills which can be treacherous in the wet winter weather.  Limited parking is available adjacent to this cache, or a few hundred yards to the north, there is plenty of parking available on and around Thickwood Estate.

I would recommend cachers start at cache number one, and work their way around in numerical order. If, however, you decide a shorter route is preferable, you can do either loop of the figure of eight independently, which are each around two miles long, if starting from cache number 1. Parking is still recommended adjacent to cache number 1.

No caches are hidden in or on dry stone walls, so please take care not to disturb these in any way. Some fields contain cattle or sheep, so please ensure that you keep your dog on a lead. If you bring a dog, in the unlikely event of cattle chasing you should release your dog and allow him to run away. I have always found them to be very friendly.

There are an additional two easily accessible caches from the Slaughterford Stroll series near Caches 13 and 14, so if you haven't already got these, it's worth a short detour for them.
