Cache 1 - Bear Trap
Headingly Bear Pit was built in 1840. The bears were displayed in a circular pit.
It is all that remains of Leeds Zoological and Botanical Gardens. It was created to allow the public to view the bears from the top of the two turrents, one of which has a spiral staircase.
The pit still stands and housed two bears until 1858.
The bear pit is on Cardingan Road, near to the cache.
