Huckleberry Heaven?
The hills around Rossland are loaded with huckleberries! Usually tarter than your standard blueberry, loaded with flavour; they are a favourite of many people. They're ready to pick when they are dark blue to purple, often in July or August depending on elevation.
People tend to be very secretive about their favourite picking spot. Of course I'm not telling you exactly where I pick! But I will say that it's across the highway, on the ski hill.
This little cache is near the entrance to Richie Road, across from Red Mountain. Find the first stand of cedars on your right and look for geocache "signs". FTF gets a trackable tag.
Bears also love huckleberries, so watch out for them! WildSafeBC
