Geocache Description:

Let's consider this an experiment.

I proudly present.... Joplin's First Wherigo!!!

This is going to be a nice and easy run to get you used to it. If everyone likes the Wherigo, we will design more that are drastically more complex :)

Let's see... what do you need....

you will need to download the cartridge from Wherigo.

http://www.wherigo.com/cartridge/details.aspx?CGUID=fa5ebaac-96cc-49a5-987e-0d0e27aa9eec

Compatible devices include:

  • Iphone via the Wherigo app
  • Android via the WhereYouGo app
  • Garmin Oregon 450 and 550 Models
  • Garmin Colorado

If you are using your smart phone, you will need to download the correct app, it is free and very easy to use.

The first time you go to Wherigo.com, you will need to make an account (very easy), then you can download the cartridge. You will want to click on "Download". If you are loading onto your phone, choose "Pocket PC Device". Then select "Open in Wherigo".

After you have done it once, it is super easy and you can download any cartridge in a matter of about 30 seconds.

So... load the Wherigo, run through the steps. When you get to the end, you will be at a locaiton for a standard Geocache hide. Once you sign the log, you can collect your Wherigo Smiley just like you normally do!! Permission has been granted for the final cache location.

Congratulations to SpirtGuide for the FTF!!

Note*** The Iphone worked super easy to download and run the Wherigo, it was just plug and play. If you have any problems with an Android, please read the below post by OzarksJim explaining how he got his Android to work. "I read some comments on our Ozark Mountain Geocachers Facebook page that some people had issues downloading the cartridge with their phones because a certain browser (Chrome?) reformatted the catridge files incorrectly when they were downloaded, and that Firefox was a better browser to use. So I downloaded the Firefox browser to my Android tablet that I happened to have with me, along with the WhereYouGo app. I also had to download an Android file manager app to move the Wherigo cartridge to the appropriate folder on my tablet (where the WhereYouGo app would look for it). Sure enough, everything appeared to work and I was able to open the cartridge in WhereYouGo."
