This area is known as Rocky Hill. The land was part of an original homestead that was occupied as a result of the Homestead Act of 1862. Prior to this, the area was predominantly occupied by the local Native American tribes including Chief Seltice (his name lends itself to one of the longest streets in the area to the west into Idaho.) Liberty Lake was a holiday/recreation destination for the region and many people visited here over the years to enjoy the lake.
The barn itself dates back to the 1940's and the well house dates back to the early 1900's. They are the oldest known structures in Liberty Lake.
