Geocache Description:

The 3rd Tynemouth (Ritson's Own). One of the longest, continuously running Scout Groups in Tynemouth District. We held our Centenary celebrations in May 2015 - hence the '100 not out' in the cache title. The geocache has been placed to mark our 100th Birthday.

Formed on the 17th May 1915 by George Greenacre of Chirton. Registered as the 1st Chirton (St. Luke's) on the 25th November 1915. The patronage of the colliery caused the name to become Preston Colliery Scouts and then "Ritson's Own" in honour of Colonel Ritson the then owner of the colliery.

The HQ car park is less than 200 metres away from the cache. There may be dog walkers around or Muggles crossing the large playing field, so some discretion may be required.

Beavers and Scouts meet on a Tuesday evening between 5.30pm and 9pm and Cubs on a Wednesday evening between 6.30pm and 8pm, just incase you would like to avoid the area when we are around. However, if we are around and out on the field, don't worry, we know what you're looking for and won't tell anyone.....

The cache contains the usual guff and 2 of the Groups Limited Edition Centenary cloth badges.... ideal for a camp blanket or for anything else you can think of.
