It is a plastic click and lock box hidden by a tree just off the path. Buggies and wheelchairs should be able to get close.
Eastcote House Gardens is a lovely green space within which there are some historic buildings, with information boards telling you more about them. There is also a walled courtyard garden, an orchard, a small river with boardwalk, and plenty of grassy areas in which to picnic, run around or just relax. Please note that whilst the grounds are accessible 24/7, the car park (and gates/road up to it), cafe and toilets are only available during the day (opening times will vary with the seasons)
There used to be a dwelling on Eastcote House grounds in 1507, which initially was a cottage named Hopkyttes. Over time the building was changed and developed to become a grander living space called Eastcote House, which until the 20th century was surrounded by extensive parkland. More recently, housing and roads have encroached on some of that land, and the house itself was demolished in 1964 due to becoming unsafe structurally, so now only the the stables, the dovecot and the walled garden remain.
If anyone wishes to visit the inside of the buildings, there is often an opportunity to do so during the annual London Open House weekend
