Geocache Description:

The Floyd Roberts, Jr. Pavilion overlooks Land of Memories park. The building was donated to the city of Mankato for use on a proposed golf course that was never constructed. Mankato's public works staff renovated the building and installed utilities.

The building is named after Floyd Roberts Jr. who served as Mankato's parks superintendent from 1981 to 2000. He had many achievements including: development of more than 500 acres of park space; improved accessibility in the parks; landscaping development and construction of specialized gardens; management and development of Mankato's Rasmussen Woods Park and Nature Center; rebuilt Mankato's Sibley Park petting zoo; expanded Mankato's tree planting program and diversification of trees; managed a total upgrade of playground equipment so it is safe, accessible and provides challenging fun; championed trail enhancement and connectivity; and initiated the reconstruction of Mankato's Tourtellotte Pool.
