Geocache Description:

This geocache is dedicated to the memory of Darren Osborne (Spindoc Bob) who spent much time and effort to ensure that geocaching could take place in NSW National Parks.

This geocache is placed with the approval of the Office of Environment & Heritage, NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service.

The name of the Pagoda formation is only a local name but refers to the 360 degree view from the top of the Pagoda. These are formed by highly resistant layers of flat or coiled ironstone within relatively easily crumbled sandstone this allows weathering of one layer of rock at a different rate to other layers of rock (called differential weathering). This results in the beehive, dome, castellated and elaborate platform shaped features commonly called Pagodas.

This geocache is located within the World heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park. Please tread lightly, respect this special place and help us to conserve the many natural and cultural values that are found there.

The cache is not on the Pagoda itself, but very close by.

Before looking for this cache please check with the NSW NP&WS websites for the latest information regarding access.
