The cache you seek is located in Rosehill Elmwood Cemetery, which is said to be the most haunted cemetery in Kentucky. One of the most commonly seen ghosts here is the ghost of Rainey Bethea.
This is the monument at “Potter’s Field” where Bethea is buried in an unmarked grave. A ghost has been spotted on many occasions, sometimes carrying his head and many are physically touched or grabbed by the ghost as they walk past graves. Many also say his ghost has been seen kneeling in prayer and weeping loudly.
Bethea was the last person to be publically executed in the United States. He confessed to the rape and murder of a 70 year old woman and was publically hanged in Owensboro after being convicted. Mistakes in execution and the surrounding media circus contributed to the end of public executions in the United States.
