With apologies to all who remember this song from summer camp experiences. Sing along as you take the opportunity to explore some of the small beaches on Slocan Lake. This is really an Ontario song (IMHO) and the words could be adjusted to Land of the conifers, home to many loggers. Land of the Silver Birch, Home of the beaver, Where still the mighty moose, Wanders at will. Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more. Boom-diddy-ah-dah, Boo-ooo-ooo-oom. High on a rocky ledge, I'll set my wigwam, Close to the water's edge, Silent and still. Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more. Boom-diddy-ah-dah, Boo-ooo-ooo-oom.
Land of the Silver Birch, Home of the Beaver. Easy landing at this cache spot whatever the lake level. Now there is lots of highway noise from above but in years past the noise came from the Bosun Mine around the point. You can still see (underwater) the remains of the pilings that supported docks where ore was loaded onto boats for shipping to the rail connection at Slocan or Rosebery. In 1898 the Bosum shipped 264 1/2 tons of galena ore. (Bring a writing tool)
