Have you experienced a “Love at first sight”, but with a nature? This happened to me recently, in the region of Kučajske (Kuchayske) Mountains. Despite my unsuccessful search after the cache on waterfall Prskalo, I couldn’t resist to explore more of this heavenly beautiful corner of the world. Some nearby places attracted my attention, so I visited springs of the Vrelo River and waterfall Lisine.
The Watelfall Veliki Buk
Waterfalls in Serbia are generally not well known, mostly because they are not particularly high. Actually, until the late 1990s, the highest waterfalls in Serbia are believed to be 25 to 30 meters. Since then, several waterfalls were discovered in the previously geologically unexplored areas of the south-eastern Serbia (namely, the Visok region), including some of the highest ones, changing the geography of Serbia.
The waterfall Veliki Buk or also called Lisine is 25 meters high. The abundance of water in spring makes it a beautiful scenery to enjoy in, though you can enjoy in it in the summer as well.
Irresistible!
The waterfall is located on the river Vrelo, right tributary of the river Resava. The springs of Vrelo (where the cache “Lisine” is hidden) lies about 0.5 km from the waterfall. According to the type of formation, this waterfall counts into accumulative waterfalls, created by accumulation of tufa. At the foot of the waterfall is formed a shallow lake, surrounded by tufa blocks. This waterfall, together with the springs of Vrelo, is protected by the state, as a natural monument and as an significant object of geological heritage of Serbia.
The beauty around
These were the words of “boring” facts. Your eyes, ears, nose, skin, heart and your stomach (if you are weak enough ((please, be!!!)) not to resist the small tavernas in spectacular surrounding and excellent food) will experience this place in a special way .
How to get there: leave the E75 highway at the exit Cuprija, drive toward east. You can drive thru Despotovac or Senje, than thru Stenjevac.
The cache is a 220 ml glass jar. Be extremely cautious when getting and logging the cache, the place is full of muggles.
