Marsh Road: Into The Countryside Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

nathanjhunt: I was thinking of moving this cache back to it's original location. However, on two separate occasions, I haven't been able to find it. It's probably still in place, but if I can't find my own cache for maintenance, then what's the point? I never did like the new location anyway. Goodnight.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to nathanjhunt’s first series of caches; the "Marsh Road series". There are 8 in total on the main route, plus 2 extra if you have a bit more time on your hands. The series makes for a good cache and dash with stopping places very close to each cache, but would equally make an excellent cycle route as the road is already frequented by cyclists. For those feeling extra adventurous, the route can also be walked as the roads are very empty, but please be wary, especially round corners as the road is narrow. The route is 15km / 9 miles in total if you include the extra 2 caches.

Marsh Road is an old road on the Dengie peninsular. The area of land between Burnham, Southminster, Asheldham, Tillingham and Bradwell used to be salt marshes, until the area was reclaimed from the sea hundreds of years ago. The land was used for agriculture, and most of it has stayed in private hands to this day, making the area one of the most remote parts of Essex to the public. Marsh Road (as Hall Road) leaves Southminster, and is the only public road that runs out into the area of former marshes, before it sweeps back round via Monsale and Deal Hall and carries on to Burnham. The area is incredibly remote and very few people visit it, in turn making it a beautiful and peaceful place to visit in the middle of the countryside.

Our first cache is on the way out of Southminster, as you start to get a glimpse at the very rural part of Essex. There is a stopping place right next to GZ on the corner. There is enough room for trackables and small swapables. There is also a travel bug inside for the taking.
