The intersection you are looking at was flooded by the Metedeconk River during Sandy. Living on a lagoon here at the shore I watched the far bulkhead during the day. Seemed like Sandy was going to be a non event. Around 11 pm checked the lagoon only to find the water was laping over my bulkhead and flooding the street in front of the house. The breaching of the Mantaloking Bridge and to a lesser extent Lyman Street allowed the storm surge to fill up the back bays. While you are here there are 2 caches in the area that have nice trails thru the woods to use. FTF gets a new travel bug.
When this was originally planed it was to be in the stump you will pass on your way through the parking lot. Look on the side and you will see the hole. Only trouble is the stump is in Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge which does not allow caches. So it was moved to a more traditional location.
This cache is certified Central Jersey!
