The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by
many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of
paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have
‘walked’ before
us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities
across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The
cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries,
tombstones and local lore.
Some of you must be sick of the tendency for recent entries in this series to bear the cautionary note that "The cemetery is NOT next to the cache!" Well...that's actually still true of this one. NOTE: the cemetery is NOT adjacent to this location! HOWEVER...if you walk north just a little bit to the next telephone pole, and then look to the east through the grove of trees fringing the road here, you will be able to glimpse a private lane back there, and you should be able to spot a chain link fence, beyond which at least one headstone is visible.
There are 21 interments at this Anglo cemetery, with dates of death ranging from 1883 to 1985. Also, note the obvious presence of a benchmark right next to the cache, for those who enjoy that sort of thing. As always,
any refinements to the listed coordinates are
welcomed.
