Geocache Description:

Volunteers are needed to help plant trees along Rivershore Dr S, just south of 24th Ave in Moorhead, MN from 3-7pm.

Volunteers will be planting trees and shrubs in the riparian area along the stretch of the River along Rivershore Dr S between 24th Ave s and I-94 in Moorhead, MN. The event will be held from 3:00pm to 7:00pm with short training sessions held throughout the event, so you can come and go as you please.
There will be a log for geocachers to sign, and then you will be directed to a planting area for geocachers.
Planting the trees and shrubs will involve volunteers digging holes, planting the tree or shrub, mulching, and watering.
What to wear: long pants, closed toed flat shoes, and gloves that can get muddy. Dress for the weather!
When responding with your will attend please include the number of people in your party.

A riparian zone is the land adjacent to rivers, lakes, or wetlands. Reforesting this area along the Red River provides many benefits for the local community. It improves bank stability along with water and air quality. Also, it provides suitable habitat for the river wildlife, shade, and additional recreation opportunities. Residential areas next to green spaces have also been shown to create neighborhoods with lover crime rates.
