Geocache Description:

An ice cream sandwich is a frozen dessert consisting of ice cream between two wafers, cookies, or other similar biscuit.

The ice cream sandwich is a truly international sweet. In Australia, the confectionery was commonly known as a "cream between" when introduced. One purchased a small block of ice cream wrapped in paper and placed it between two wafers.

Iranian Ice Cream SandwichThe classic Iranian ice cream sandwich is made with Iranian traditional ice cream in two pieces of wafer. Iranian traditional ice cream usually is made of shaked milk, eggs, sugar, saffron, sa'lab, rose water, or vanilla.

In Israel, ice cream sandwich is commonly known as "Kasata". The name finds its origin in a variation of the Italian dessert Cassata, which consists of sponge cake and layers of ice cream.

Philippino Ice Cream SandwichLocal ice cream peddlers in the Philippines travel around cities with their pushcarts offering ice cream sandwiches made with pandesal bread.

In Singapore, wafer ice cream vendors also sell blocks of ice cream on slices of multicolored bread, on cones or in cups instead of sandwiched between wafers.

Neapolitan Ice Cream SandwichIn North America, an ice cream sandwich is a slice of ice cream, usually vanilla although other flavors are sometimes used (such as Neapolitan pictured here), sandwiched between two wafers, usually chocolate and rectangular.

In the United Kingdom an ice cream wafer, consisting of a small block of ice cream between two rectangular wafer biscuits, was a popular alternative to cones up until the 1980s.
