La Penisola dei Gabbiani è una stretta striscia di sabbia situata alla foce del fiume Serchio, alla sinistra idrografica. È una spiaggia allo stato naturale compresa nel Parco Regionale di Migliarino, San Rossore e Massaciuccoli. La forma della spiaggia può cambiare in seguito a mareggiate o piene del fiume; nel 2009 la penisola fu prossima alla scomparsa. L'accesso alla spiaggia da terra non è aperto al pubblico; la spiaggia si può raggiungere in barca via mare o attraversando la foce del Serchio, accessibile da Marina di Vecchiano.
Attenzione!!!
In condizioni di mare calmo e tempo buono, la foce del Serchio può essere guadata camminando sulle secche; la profondità è tale che un adulto tocca in tutta la traversata (l'acqua arriva al petto). Il fondale però ha delle buche più profonde, e le correnti non vanno sottovalutate, Pertanto, è fondamentale saper nuotare e saper affrontare le correnti. Tenete conto anche che possono esserci barche che entrano o escono nel Serchio. Con mare mosso e/o cattivo tempo, la traversata può diventare molto pericolosa. Ricordatevi che le spiagge della zona non sono vigilate da bagnini. Fate attenzione anche ad eventuali divieti di balneazione temporanei, potete trovare informazioni sul sito dell'ARPAT.
La cache è un contenitore tipo lock and lock nascosto in un cespuglio di tamerici in una parte leggermente più elevata. Dalla foce del Serchio è raggiungibile a piedi nudi, anche se vicino ai cespugli delle calzature possono essere d'aiuto. Contiene logbook, matita, e oggetti da scambiare. The Peninsula of the Seagulls is a narrow sandy strip situated at the mouth of the Serchio river, on the left bank. The beach is kept at its natural state and belongs to the Regional Park of Migliarino, San Rossore and Massaciuccoli. With calm sea and good weather, the mouth of the Serchio can be crossed by walking on the seabed. An average adult will be covered more or less up to the chest. However, there are holes in the seabed, and currents may be strong and dangerous. Therefore, the crossing should only be attempted by experienced swimmers who know how to deal with with sea currents. Please pay attention to motor boats entering or leaving the river. With strong sea and/or bad weather, the crossing may get really dangerous. The beaches of the areas have no lifeguard surveillance. The cache is a lock and lock-like container hidden in a tamarisk bush, in a slightly elevated part of the beach. It can be reached barefoot from the mouth of the river, however shoes may be helpful when searching near the bushes. It contains logbook, pencil, and small objects for interchange.
