Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Berks Explorers Seeking Tupperware (aka BEST) Geo-Art series. This series was created to teach Geocacher's about Berks County, and some of it's interesting facts, places, people and heritage. Once all 55 caches are found, your Geo-Art reward will be completed. Although all caches are hidden near the Lake Ontelaunee Reservoir, it is not at these posted coordinates - no swimming is required to obtain any cache in this series *smile*

BEST Geo-Art: S05/37

Reading, Berks County, PA

This road is named in honor of the inventor and builder of the first successful, inventor and builder of first successful hill-climbing gasoline automobile in the U.S. Duryea Drive extends from City Park to the Pagoda, and is the course used by him for testing his cars, from 1900-1907. In Springfield, Massachusetts, he and his brother, Frank, also produced and road-tested America's first gasoline-powered car in 1893.

His name was…

A. Charles E. Duryea (N 40° 29.257 W 075° 53.877)
B. Michael E. Duryea (N 40° 29.257 075° 3.888)
C. Robert E. Duryea (N 40° 29.257 075° 3.866)
D. Thomas E. Duryea (N 40° 29.249 075° 3.855)

Note: A historical marker was placed on May 17, 1951 at N 40 20.084, W 75 54.667 commemorating his contribution.

Note:  This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, and so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this series on a Sunday. The majority of the cache containers are hidden within 10 - 20 feet from the trail. Since these caches are hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of geocaching in the great outdoors. Good Luck.

Please note that GC4GQMT - Cache Quest #10: The Final Quest and GC45V8Q - Cache Quest #9 A Questers Pilgrimage were archived to make room for this BEST Geo-Art geocache.  Thanks Rentell.
