BEST Geo-Art: E05/22
Hereford Township, Berks County, PA
By 1700 economic conditions in England were changing and the English iron industry began to look to the American Colonies as a source of bar iron. Likewise, many English iron workers looked to America to find work. It is believed that the first Maybury iron worker in America was Thomas Maybury, who received a grant of land in Newton Townstead in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1716. Maybury and his family became a dynasty of ironmasters in America. He is credited with establishing the Hereford Furnace, in Hereford Township.
Established by Thomas Maybury in 1745 on the west bank of the Perkiomen Creek for the purpose of manufacturing iron. Maybury is credited with producing here in 1767 the first cast-iron _____________ in North America.
In 1767, Maybury was credited with producing this first cast-iron item in North America…

Note: This cache has the hunting attribute selected. Hunters wear orange, and when the time is right, and so should you. During hunting season, it is best to do this series on a Sunday. The majority of the cache containers are hidden within 10 - 20 feet from the trail. Since these caches are hidden in the woods, you will encounter things like wildlife, poison ivy, bugs, ticks, etc. That is just part of geocaching in the great outdoors. Good Luck.
