Starting at the Tanaina Lake Canoe Trailhead at Mile 4.5 of the park road, look for the orange P signs that mark the portages which connect lake to lake. Most are rather short with the western side having the longer ones. It's labeled as a canoe trail, but I usually use a kayak and have seen pack rafts and inflatable boats used as well. Canoes can be rented from Tippecanoe Rentals, whose information can be found on the link above. If you are into it, most of the lakes offer good fishing for the invasive northern pike; I recommend a chartreuse crystal-flash egg sucking leech. The trail can be used in winter as well, when ice permits, on skis, ice skates, or snow machine. Please be careful and check area info before you go. A parking fee is required if you don't have a state parks pass. Cache placed under GeocacheAlaska! Park Use Permit #15-KA-1994
