A Chapter in Bethlehem History - Up Close Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time or has had no owner response for at least 30 days, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

The Hoover Mason Trestle is basically a raised walkway that lines Bethlehem Steel trestle. It used to carry materials like iron ore to the blast furnaces. It's a history lesson for some, emotional for others who remember it in its glory, and if nothing else, provides an incredible vantage point of the blast furnaces and other Bethlehem Steel buildings. Definately bring your camera.

****Congrats Birdguise as they were FTF*****

I really hope you enjoy this cache....as a native to the area, this has quite a bit of significance / meaning to people I know. Please adhere to the rules of this new "park" if you will...and please read the quick description here.

1) This is a micro...no room for travel bugs and you must bring your own pencil.

2) I want to make this very clear now....YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE TRESTLE AND RISK YOUR LIFE TO FIND THE CACHE....it can be reached from where you are and is on the new construction. You don't have to climb, reach over, or hang off of the newly constructed trestle.  In short, a child could access the cache easily if they knew where it was.

3) NOT A NIGHT TIME CACHE. Don't go during non park hours...the trestle is open 8am-8pm Sunday - Wednesday....and 8-9pm Thursday-Saturday. Otherwise Sands Security or the Bethlehem Police are going to want to speak to you and most likely cite you depending where you park.

4) MUGGLE CITY: As it just opened in Summer 2015, there are muggles everywhere here. PLEASE use stealth. Warning - you might have to wait people out.

5) Leave Fifi or Fido at home...this is not a place for them. However, kids are greatly encouraged....it safe and a great history opportunity.
