Many beginners have never found a 5 rating cache and advanced cachers have found all of the water access caches in the area.
The island is a wildlife sanctuary. No one is allowed to land there or approach the shore too closely.
Swimming is not allowed in Lake Needwood. Use of a private boat requires permit ($5 a day).
An accessible/ADA compliant dock and launch system makes it possible for people with disabilities to launch both canoes and kayaks.
If you don’t have a boat, Lake Needwood Boat Rental rents kayaks, canoes, and rowboats for $10 an hour or $35 a day. For the 2015 summer season they are closed Monday and Tuesday; September 7 - 28 they are open only Saturday and Sunday. Call the Boat House 301-563-7540 (recorded information) or in season 301-563-7544 to make sure they will be open. Rented boats cannot be beached on the shore.

To start off the contents are a waterproof log book, 3 pens, a travel bug and a path tag.
