This farm has been here for over 100 years. Originally it was owned by the Grossman's who came here from Germany in 1888. They purchased the 10 acre farm in1895 and ran it until a few years ago. When the land was put up for sale, the Nassau Land Trust nominated the property to be purchased by Nassau County through the 2006 Environmental Bond Act. Thanks to the County’s purchase, the farm was saved from development. The name of the farm has since been changed.
In the early 1900's Farmer Grossman would hitch up his horse and carriage and take his produce into Washington Market in the city to sell. It would take him seven hours to get there and six hours to get home. It is the only working farm left in Nassau County.
The farm holds special memories for me as I was friends with one of the Grossmans when I was growing up. I remember coming here on field trips from school too.
As for the cache you are looking for a bison.
