Taney's origins go back to the early Irish saint Nathi, who in the 6th century established a centre for monastic life. This centre may have been on what is now the site of St. Nahi's Church in Dundrum.
However by the 19th century the area was expanding and the very small St Nahi's church was no longer big enough. The new Christ Church was completed in 1818.

Taney is now the largest Church of Ireland parish in Ireland

The Church Micro IE series is open to everyone; if you have a church you would like to place a cache at then please contact THE_Chris throughGeocaching.com. This is to keep track of the numbers of the churches and give you the general format for the cache page. In the UK there are thousands in the series so we have some catching up to do! Also, if you currently have a published cache at a church that you would like to include in the series, get in contact and we can add it.
