Geocache Description:

A great, secluded park in Quinte West.

We recently moved into the area and decided to place a cache to commemorate.  Situated in the "Country Club Village" the cache was hidden within Montrose Quinte Sunrise Rotary Park.  This park accomodates all ages: a children's play area, a basketball court, a baseball diamond, and trails.

A brief history of the area (from "Sidney Township 200, 1790-1990" by the Hastings County Historical Society, ISBN 0-921385-13-7)

  • 1848: Montrose Road is built between lots 24 and 25 in concession 1 of Sidney township, from concession 2 to the bay.
  • 1890: Doxtator Road (now Moira St West) is extended west to join Montrose Road
  • 1969: the Montrose road subdivision is planned
  • 1976: A playground / community park was recommended to be built for the Montrose area.

The cache is fairly accessible.  Although it is not in an overt location, watch for muggles.

A FTF coin for the FTF.
Congratulations to ComedyAddict for the FTF!
