Geocache Description:

A two-part multi-cache with a simple puzzle to solve that will lead you to a bit of Wilbraham history. Stage 1 is outdoors , Stage 2 is indoors, so this cache should be attempted during the day (see hours below). There is only about a five minute walk between the two stages. Stage two is handicapped accessible. Stage one is in a grassy area several feet from paved walkways.

Come for the cache, stay to play and learn or to grab a bite to eat in this charming downtown area. High muggle area at certain times of the day; please use some stealth and observe proper etiquette (quiet, please).Puzzle to find Stage 2: To find the last digit of the Northern coordinate: N 42 07.30___ you will need to look for the Battle of Petersburg and count the number of letters in the last name of the last soldier listed in the 1st Cavalry. To find the Western coordinate, look for the Battle of Antietam, and find the 20th name down in the 27th Infantry. Count the number of letters in his last name and add to the last digit in this coordinate: W 072 25.722

We first learned about Geocaching through the Stage 2 location and would like to pay tribute by placing our first cache here. Geocaching has made life in this small town much more interesting, exposing us to hiking areas and scenic spots that we had never seen before! That being said, while this may be a small and quaint town, Wilbraham is a place rich in history, which can be explored further along the two stages of this cache. The cache itself is a small, clear plastic locking container with cool geocaching-related trades, stickers, and a first-to-find bottlecap. Please remember to trade equal or trade up!
