The idea here is to turn something old into something better and more useful. Common terms for this are “repurpose” or “upcycle.” Think of what you can make out of objects that are no longer useful in their current state. In geocaching many containers started life as something else, perhaps a film canister, sandwich container, peanut butter jar or ammo can. The object you seek is none of these.
