The FinsUpPalmCove family will be vacationing and camping at John Pennekamp State Park for the week and we figured we would start the week off with a GeoEvent to meet some of the local geocachers and get some tips on must-do activities in the areas. This will be our first camping experience at this particular state park and have heard it is simply beautiful.
The state park offers quite a bit of activities such as kayaking, snorkling, boat tours, a couple of nature trails and even a 30,000 gallon saltwater aquarium. There is a geocache and also two earth cahes in the park to help with the Geocaching Road Trip '15 souveniers. Did I mention that this event will also help get your souvenier! (I didn't see any offered in the area between now and Septmeber 2nd).
Who: All geocachers and family members
What: A Geoccaching Meet and Greet event
Where: John Pennekamp State Park (exact location/pavillion is TBD, however at the moment we will be at the large pavillion near the playground)
When: Monday, August 17, 2016, from 11:00 am until noon
Why: To meet local geocachers and get some tips on "must-do" activities and adventures
How: By POV (be prepared for the state park fee of about $8). We will provide the logbook of course, and will have a few geocache containers, travel bugs, and some swag to raffle off. Bring your own food, snacks, and beverages (minding all rules of the state park). Also recommend bringing a folding chair or perhaps even some beach towels in case we move beachside!
