Geocache Description:

The geocaches on this reserve have been placed with the kind permission of the Hawk & Owl Trust Education and Outreach Officer for Shapwick Moor.

Shapwick Moor Nature Reserve forms part of the larger network of reserves managed by the Avalon Marshes Partnership comprising of Somerset Wildlife Trust, Natural England, Hawk & Owl Trust, RSPB, Somerset County Council, The Environment Agency and English Heritage. The Somerset Levels is the largest lowland wetland remaining in the UK.

This particular reserve used to grow a variety of arable crops but is now being restored to permanent wet grassland. The open fields and rough grass encourages owls and other birds of prey to hunt for the small mammals they feed on. Nesting boxes have also been placed at strategic positions throughout the reserve. All year round Buzzard and Kestrel fly overhead whilst the lucky few may catch a glimpse of Red Kite or Sparrow-Hawk hunting the hedgerows.

On this occasion you are searching for a 50ml sample tube.
