At the top of Pond Mountain in Bernardston is a view-lacking summit. There is over an 800 foot elevation gain at this point from Old Vernon Road trailhead in Northfield; you have ascended through Satan's Kingdom! At the top is a small and green lock-latching container of a reasonable size for most swag and trackables. The question remains: will you escape from Satan's grasp at the edge of the sky or shall you sink further into the shadows?
Physical challenges have been faced and various characters of religious, cultural, and worldly contexts have appeared throughout the kingdom through some magical means of a hiding being of great power! Why the area was named Satan's Kingdom is debated, but it allows for creativity with hiding geocaches. The idea of a cache at the "top" and drawing allusions to [a] God as to combat Satan interested me, so I scouted out Pond Mountain and hiked up to it. There was no vista, unfortunately, but being at one of the highest points in the Kingdom and being "so close" to [a] Heaven but being grounded by Satan and the Earth allows for an idea of Purgatory. The judgment you receive in this geocaching world? Well, the original swag is a bunch of snakes, if you can draw the dots there! 
Note: In case it's necessary to say, the area lends itself to produce some devil and religious references but none of the caches are meant to promote religion in any way. It's all in fun to use literary and cultural references.
