Geocache Description:

This is an awesome spot we came across that combines fantastic views with New Zealand history.

WW2 was the first high-tech war the world had known and radar gave the Allies the edge. Piha’s air force COL radar station was one of a coastal network that searched the skies for enemy planes, the seas for submarines, and vectored friendly aircraft coming out of the Pacific.

Gates are closed 9pm - 6am summer, 7pm - 6am winter
