Geocache Description:

(LV) Ievadot "Google" vai kādā citā interneta meklētājā vārdu "Egļukalns" jūs noteikti atradīsiet informāciju par "kalnu slēpošanas bāzi", kas atrodas 20 minūšu brauciena attālumā no Daugavpils un aicinājumu doties šurp baudīt ziemas prieku trīs dažāda līmeņa trasēs. Tomēr jābrīdina – šis biznesa "projekts" jau ir panīcis, ko, iespējams veicinājušas arī pēdējo gadu siltās ziemas. Lai gan daļa savulaik izvietotās infrastruktūras joprojām ir uz vietas, nav nekādu garantiju, ka ziemā tā tiešām darbosies.
Taču Egļukalns jebkurā gadījumā ir apskates vērts objekts, jo tā ir Augšzemes augstienes un Daugavpils novada augstākā virsotne (220 metru virs jūras līmeņa). 2004. gadā šeit uzbūvēts skatu tornis no kura paveras skats uz Sventes ezeru, Daugavpils pilsētu un plašu apkārtējo teritoriju. Runā, ka īpaši skaisti te esot rudenī.

(ENG) Eglukalns hill is the highest point in the Augšzeme highlands – it stands 220 metres above sea level. The observation tower was built in 2004 and from it opens a look on Daugavpils city, Lake Svente, and a territory which, on a clear day, reaches all the way to the Ignalina nuclear power plant in Lithuania.
In "Google" you can find information about ski resort "Eglukalns". However, be warned - skiing here is not always available in winter and a future of "project" is uncertain.
