I was wondering why it was so difficult for us to remember our dreams when we wake up in the morning?
People differ on whether or not they can remember their dreams. Firstly, to remember something, it needs to have been stored first. When we dream, long-term memory isn't available. So all our dreams aren't stored in the first place. There are only theories as to why we don't store our dreams. Granted how complex our brain is, it is, however, very organized. Dreams are random and they are hence, rarely consolidated into the memory. In general, for all of us, dreams are very easily forgotten once we wake up if we don’t consolidate them or in other words, if we don’t transfer them from short-term to long-term memory immediately upon waking
Why, just last night I had this dream. Too bad I didn't consolidate it into my long-term memory or else I'd remember what it meant.
