Geocache Description:

Initially, this cache is for GEOQUILT II. There are 10 squares of fabric to sign that will be pieced together by DxChallenged

This cache celebrates the industrious nature of our country as well as our fellow geo-cachers. The cache site gives you a view of the the blast furnaces of the historic Bethlehem Steel which stiched together the fabric of our modern nation and is being turned into the National Museum of Industrial History. These furnaces provided the "heavy" steel that built such things as the battleship New Jersey and the Empire State Building.

The original contents of the cache contain 10 of the pieces of fabric that will be sewn together, with fabric from other caches, to form GEOQUILT II. 8-20-2002 Quilt completed and retrieved. Thanks to all who participated.

Parking as with all "Canal Cache's" is up to you. For the "Cache and Dash" crew, you can take the stairs at N 40 37.083 W 075 21.538. For a lengthier experience you can park at Sand Island N 40 36.986 W 075 22.983, or the Freemansburg Lockhouse N40 37.948 W 075 18.361. You cannot reach the cache DIRECTLY from the towpath so look around a little for the small path to the "river side".
