Grove Park Tree-O: #2 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Alex+Aimee:
We tried looking for this container today, but there were so many leaves in its little hiding place and none of the bark that we usually use to hide it to be found. We had a really good look, but the poor thing seems to have gone. Unfortunately, due to the other two in this series being compromised, and because of the fact that a change in circumstances means we don't have as much time to maintain these as we used to, we've decided to archive all three. Hopefully someone else will take up the gauntlet and place some around this park/area.

Fate hath spoken.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Grove Park Tree-O mini-series. This is a set of t(h)ree caches hidden in interesting trees in Grove Park in Harborne.

The Grove was originally a Georgian house, built in the 1820s for Thomas Attwood, Birmingham’s first MP. Upon his death it passed to William Kenrick and was remodelled in 1877 in the popular Arts and Crafts style of the time. Kenrick presented both the house and grounds to the city in the 1930s as a park. The house was demolished in 1963, but the lodge remained near the carpark at the marked coordinates. Unfortunately a few years ago the lodge burned down and had to be re-built.

The Kenrick Centre which was built on land next to the park was named after the Kenrick family.

The second cache is a 35mm film cannister situated in an old, and very determined, oak tree.
