Silentabor je najvisji vrh (751 m) grebena na jugozahodni strani Pivske kotline, ki deli Zgornjo Pivko od doline Reke in od Brkinov. Pivska kotlina je valovit svet ob reki Pivki, obdan s kraskimi planotami Nanosa, Hrusice, Sneznika in Slavenskega ravnika.
Na planoti dolgega grebena nad Taborom nad Knezakom so skromne razvaline nekdaj mogocnega gradu Silentabor (Schillentabor), ki ga je leta 1471 istocasno s protiturskim taborom ob njem na cesarjev ukaz zgradil Bernardini pl. Raunach. Grad je delilo od tabora, najvecjega taborskega kompleksa na Kranjskem, mocno obzidje in globok jarek. Silentabor je leta 1700 mocno poskodovala strela, dokoncno pa so ga razdejali Frencozi ob Napoleonovi okupaciji nasih krajev. Leta 1801 so grofje Raunach prepustili gosposcino sorodniku baronu Bernardu Rossettiju, ta pa jo je osem let kasneje prodal podtnemu mojstru v Sezani Matiji Dolencu. Leta 1831 je hudo razvaljeni grad na drazbi kupila rodbina Burger, po drugi svetovni vojni pa so na grajskem gradicu zgradili repetitor. Kamenje iz grajskih razvalin so porabili kmetje za zidavo his.
Silentabor is the highest peak (751 m) of the ridge on the southwest side of Pivka basin, which divides the upper Pivka Valley and the Brkini. Pivka basin is undulating world by the river Pivka, surrounded by karst plateaus Nanos, Hrusica, Sneznik and Slavina flat land.
On the plateau above the long ridge of Tabor above Knezak are humble ruins of once mighty castle Silentabor (Schillentabor). It was built in the year 1471 at the same time as the anti-turkish fort by order of the emperor. It was built by noble Bernardini Raunach. The fort was a part of the biggest fortification complex in Carniola. The castle was separated from the fort by strong walls and deep moat. Silentabor was severely damaged by lightning in 1700, but it was finally destroyed by the French during the Napoleon’s occupation of our sites. In 1801 the the counts Raunach left the dominion to their relative Baron Bernard Rossetti, who has sold it to Master Matija Dolenc eight years later. In 1831 the severely ruined castle was purchased at auction by Burger Family. After World War II a repeater was built in the castle manor. Stones from the castle ruins were used by farmers to build their houses.
