We just went on a multi-part cache and loved it, so our first cache
had to be a multi-part cache. The trails that you will be on are in
Little Bennett Regional Park and form a 2.3 mile loop. Please
remember to bring pencil and paper as you will need to write down
the clues you find and do some simple mathematics. (Geo-caching is
educational in oh so many ways!) The theme of this cache is the
good old United States of America so please swap patriotic related
items.
The trail head and parking are at N39° 15.958 by W077° 16.816
off of Clarksburg Road. Start your hike on Logger’s Trail. The
first clue is hidden at N39° 16.119 by W077° 16.700. This is a
tough one to find so if you get stuck, decode Hint 1 below.
The first clue will show you a picture of a sign that you need
to find along the trail and provide you with offset coordinates.
Make sure that you write down the information on the clue so you
can use it when you reach the sign. Once you get to the sign, get a
good GPS fix standing right next to the sign and add/subtract the
latitude and longitude offsets as described in the clue. This will
give you the coordinates of a micro-cache containing the final clue
to the cache site. If you need help finding the micro-cache clue,
decode Hint 2 below.
Once you have found the final cache site, continue along the
trail to N39° 15.630 by W077° 16.162 to see the old School House
and have fun bouncing on the bridge.
Update 8/3/06
After you find part 1 use the following to find the clue for the
2nd stage container.
Add to the Latitude .033
Subtract from the Longitude .256
This should get you to the 2nd container which now holds
accurate coordinates for the final stage.
