SL6 - Cozy Cove Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

JustFindingOurWay: It's time to archive my first cache series. They're poorly placed, too much work to maintain, and don't get enough traffic for the effort. Recovered the container - maybe it will have another life.

Geocache Description:

It's theoritically possible to access this cache from the Butcher Jones trail but it could be a nasty bushwack that could result in excess blood loss. It's much easier in a paddle craft. Power boats need to watch out for the stumps in the cove.

Congrats to Dr.D and T2D on their co-FTF!

This cove tends to catch windblown trash from the lake. PLEASE take a trash bag to help with cleanup. You'd never know that I hauled a hatch full when I set up this cache. There's room for small trade items, but let's keep it Log Only. There is a FTF coin for the FTF.

The easy way to do this one is to use a shallow draft boat, ideally a kayak, canoe, or SUP that can be launched from the beach at Butcher Jones. Please wear your PFD and make sure you have plenty of drinking water. Round trip to SL6 is about 2 miles.

Saguaro Lake is a Tonto National Forest fee area. Tonto Daily Pass hangtags (discount with the Federal Lands Senior Pass) are available at a variety of businesses near the Salt River in Mesa and are good for a 24 hour period.

The usual cautions regarding geocaching in the desert apply. Expect flora and fauna that want to poke, scratch, bite, and could be poison. Closed toed shoes are highly recommended for the land portion of these cache quests.
